1893 half Pond Forgeries
There does not seem to be a problem with forgeries. Always check that the 1893 has not been a modified 1895.
Some coins are ex-mount coins. Look for marks in the middle of the Half Pond as many Half Ponds were made into cufflinks. It is best to buy a certified coin. I once met a "collector" who told me he had an 1893 half pond made into jewelery. The Jeweler phoned him later to tell him the coin broke in half when he put the torch on it. This is very sad.
